Sheffield (where I grew up. Tell my mum I said Sheffield was my proper home.!

Shanghai

Chinese hot pot, the spicier the better

Which artist(s) do you most admire and why?

Emma Rice’s company Wise Children – her tenure at the Globe was unbeatable and they continue to do amazing work and take it all on the road

What piece of writing or quote inspires you?

The best story I’ve ever read (and reread) is ‘The White Darkness’ by Geraldine McCaughrean (and it’s crying out for a stage adaptation, too…)

What, for you, makes a good piece of art?

Simplicity (…and great scene changes.)

What have been your career highlights so far?

Travelling to Shanghai with ETT and a phenomenal company

Anything with extra legroom!

Train

If you could have any superpower, which would you choose?

Long range teleportation – saving the environment but also my cramped legs

Our industry is currently experiencing an incredibly challenging time. Do you have any recommendations for others of how to stay hopeful and creative during this time?

Write. Anything and everything. Read. And practice by watching great acting. Then copy it. Write a list of what you want to do when you finish. How do you get there? Be kind to yourself. Despite all its shams, drudgeries and broken dreams, it’s still a beautiful world.
