Which artist(s) do you most admire and why? 

Kanye West because he doesn’t apologise for what he produces, which is usually extraordinary, he is like Mozart in this way, or perhaps the other way around. 

What music inspires you? 

Kanye West, Classical, choral, Africanist, Gospel 

What image or video inspires you? 

The silhotte of the African continent. 

What piece of writing or quote inspires you?

What, for you, makes a good piece of art? 

Integrity of purpose. 

What have been your career highlights so far? 

Working with all the people I have had the opportunity to work with. Teaching African Diaspora accents. 

If you were cast away on a desert island, which 5 plays would you take with you and why? 

The Crucible, Richard III, Rockets and Blue Lights, Blue Orange, Speed The Plow, The Cherry Orchard 

 

Please can you tell us what you would say to emerging artists to encourage them to take their work on the road or join an ETT tour? 

What is the purpose of your art, and how can you make change in the places around the country that are starving to hear your voice or perspective? 

Window or aisle seat? 

Ejector seat if needed!! 

Favourite way to travel? 

Car too: summertime, rural French road, smooth tarmac, and no traffic.

What is the purpose of your art, and how can you make change in the places around the country that are starving to hear your voice or perspective? 

Joel Trill’s biog:

Having gained an MFA in Voice Studies, at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Joel works a voice coach in theatre, drama and business training.

His theatrical credits include: God Dog (Watford Palace Theatre), The Wider Earth (Natural History Museum), Macbeth (The Borgias Theatre), Yellowman (The Young Vic), Assata Taught Me (The Gate Theatre), One Love (Birmingham REP), A Bitter Herb (RADA), Blues for an Alabama Sky (RADA), War & War (Complcite Pleasance Theatre), Layla’s Room (The Theatre Centre), Clybourne Park (RADA GBS studio), Rise Up (The Theatre Centre).

Joel also works as a voice-over artist with clients that include: CNN, Sky Vision, Dreamworks, Nike, BBC and ITV.
