How did you bring home with you on tour? 

I have photos of my family, but I try to best to leave all ideas of home behind and just get lost in a new place. 

Which city was your favourite to visit on tour with ETT? 

Shanghai 

What gem did you discover on tour with ETT (could be a landmark/park/cafe/pub etc)? 

I loved the French quarter in Shanghai. 

What are your touring essentials?   

Script, toothbrush and your best self.  

What’s your go-to recipe whilst on tour? 

Never eat in. 

Touring is important because it makes theatre available to people in areas that would not have been able to access it. But also on a personal level, I have grown immeasurably as an artist as I have had access to many different cultures in a way I would have not had if I had just been a tourist. 

What, for you, makes a good piece of art?  Commitment, passion and skill. 

Which artist(s) do you most admire and why? 

Anyone who tries to make a living in Theatre. 

What music inspires you? 

Anything that makes my kids dance. 

What image or video inspires you? 

Anthony Newley’s performance on The Ed Sullivan Show of Who can I turn to. 

What piece of writing or quote inspires you? 

Fup by Jim Dodge. 

What, for you, makes a good piece of art? 

Commitment, passion and skill. 

What have been your career highlights so far? 

Touring definitely. I’ve been lucky to tour all over Europe, Asia, North and South America. 

If you were cast away on a desert island, which 5 plays would you take with you and why? 

Gas Station Angel by Ed Thomas – first professional job.  

Lie of the mind by Sam Shephard – Love the worlds he creates.  

Measure for Measure, Othello, Richard III by William Shakespeare. –  Lucio, Iago and Tricky Dicky, what’s not to like.  

Please can you tell us what you would say to emerging artists to encourage them to take their work on the road or join an ETT tour? 

Just get out there and share. It’s important to get the work out in the world and seen by as many people as possible but also it’s such a joyous experience.

If you could have any superpower, which would you choose? 

To convince people I’m an amazing actor.
